Guntur native Yakkanti Sudhakar Reddy wins national best debut film director award

The 66th National Awards winner list is out after a three month delay due to the Lok Sabha elections. While the Telugu film industry has been done proud with ‘Mahanati’ receiving awards in different categories. There is another reason to celebrate. Telugu director Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti has won the National Award in the category of best debut film of a director for the Marathi movie ‘Naal’

Sudhakar Reddy who hails from the Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh is a postgraduate from the Film and Television Institute of India. He has worked as a cinematographer and director of photography for well-known Bollywood movies like ‘Highway’, ‘Veere De Wedding’, ‘Patil’ and many others. His work as a cinematographer for the Marathi film ‘Sairat’ is one to be remembered.

Sudhakar Reddy Yekkanti's upcoming projects include a movie starring Amitabh Bachchan. The story is an inspiration from real life of Vijay Barse, founder of the NGO Slum Soccer.
