Guntur woman jumps from building with child, dies by suicide

Guntur: A woman, along with her nine-month-old baby, committed suicide by jumping from a five-storeyed building (Kamalesh Apartment complex) at Lakshmipuram area in Guntur on Saturday.

The police said that the woman, Manogna, threw her baby, Tulasi, from the fifth floor of the apartment complex and later, jumped from the building.

Tulasi died on the spot while Manogna breathed her last in the hospital.

The police are suspecting family disputes and differences with her husband to be the motives behind taking the extreme step.

Both Manogna and her husband are employees with a private firm in Hyderabad and they came to Guntur during the lockdown period. The family has been staying in Guntur for the last few months.

The police registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC ( suspicious death) and the investigation is on to ascertain the exact reason for suicide.
