Hyderabad: Alleged harassment from a superior officer and colleagues drove female Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited employee to suicide. The 33-year-old was found hanging in her Miyapur residence. Hailing from West Bengal, she, an accountant, was transferred to Hyderabad from Bhopal on June 2019 to the BHEL campus at RC Puram in Sangareddy district.
On Thursday morning, the victim locked herself inside her room and did not come out for a long time. Her husband, working with an MNC, tried calling her but she didnāt respond. With the help of the guards at the township, they broke down the door and found her hanging.
After investigations, the police found that she has been harassed by her superior and her colleagues ever since she joined the Hyderabad office. She had conveyed this fact to her husband as well. Led by Deputy General Manager Kishore Arther Kumar, the other alleged harassers include Trithabasi Swain, Mohammad Soni, S Sumalatha, Gopiram Korea, Almi Nithin, Sitaram D, and Charan Raj. She had also told her husband that her phone was hacked and being tapped.
Investigators found that the victim had faced a similar type of harassment in Bhopal, a reason why she opted for a transfer to Hyderabad. However, her Bhopal colleagues spread negative remarks about her to the Hyderabad staff, opening her to the same harassment again.
Miyapur police registered an abetment to suicide case against the DGM Kishore and the other officers and started a probe.
