Hyderabad: Unable to bear harassment from her husband and his first wife, a woman along with her newborn son, allegedly jumped into an underground sump at their house in Jagathgirigutta at Hyderabad. Bodies of B Lavanya and her son Manoj were found floating in the sump in the early hours of Friday morning.

Her husband B Mallesh, a kirana merchant had married the woman Lavanya in 2014, as he couldn't have children from his first marriage with Satyamma.

Mallesh married Satyamma 25 years ago, but the couple could not have children. With consent from his wife and both families, he married Lavanya and the couple had two children. All of them were residing in the same house.

Recently, Mallesh and Satyamma started harassing Lavanya over petty issues. On Thursday night also they had an argument over some issue after which they went to sleep. Around 3 am when Satyamma woke up, she could not find Lavanya and her son. She immediately woke Mallesh up and started searching for them. After some time, they found the cover of the sump open. When they checked, they found both Lavanya and Manoj.

Lavanya's father Shankaraiah alleged that the harassment from Mallesh and Satyamma was increasing every day. And since she couldn't bear it and she took the extreme step of committing suicide. Police registered a case of abetment to suicide and harassment against Mallesh and Satyamma and begun investigations.
