Relief to PG docs, HC directs KNRUHS to allow students to give their exams later

Hyderabad: In a major relief to post graduate doctors seeking postponement of their MDMS examination, beginning June 20th. The High Court in Telangana, has directed the Vice Chancellor of Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, Warangal, to allow students for appear for examination later. Around 1197 PG students including students of degree and diploma are scheduled to take their examination.

The High court after extensively hearing the arguments of both the sides has passed an order giving relief to the students. The court directed the VC to allow students who are willing to appear at present for the examination and those who can appear later. The examination fee that has already paid will be adjusted and those candidates will be treated as appearing for the first time.

"Considering the fact that, MCI has already agreed to permit the University to hold an additional examination for those students, who fail to appear in the present one. This court is of the opinion that it will be in the interest of justice to permit the respondents to conduct the PG medical examination from 20 to 29 June. However, simultaneously, this court directs both the respondents to ensure that all the safety measures mentioned are duly followed. Further fee paid by students who are not taking the ongoing examination will be adjusted as the fee for the subsequent exams" the Court said.

The HC was hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by the Junior doctors in the Telangana High Court seeking postponement of postgraduate exams and continuation of their services as senior residents.
