Head constable shoots himself dead

Delhi: A Head Constable posted at Delhi’s Anand Vihar Railway Station (AVRS) allegedly committed suicide on Friday.

The constable has been identified as Naresh Panwar.

Naresh was deployed for duty at entry gate pocket at AVRS. Since he did not report for duty, Naresh was marked absent on Friday at 12.55 am and later, he reported for duty at around 1.50 am.

According to police officials, “On Friday at 8.26 am, constable Rajpal of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) intimated that Naresh was lying unconscious on a cement slab with blood oozing from his head. On inspection, Naresh was found dead with a gunshot wound in his head and his 9mm service pistol was lying near his right side.”

Naresh’s family has been informed about the incident and a crime team from the East district has been called for further investigation. As of now, no suicide note has been recovered from the crime scene.

The incident comes days after an IPS officer allegedly committed suicide at his residence in Faridabad area near Delhi by shooting himself dead.
