Hyderabad: Venkatesh Daggubati is stepping into the shoes of Dhanush for the remake of Tamil blockbuster film Asuran, and this news has been confirmed some time back. To be directed by Srikanth Addala of Seetamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu fame, the film is being produced by Suresh Babu under Suresh Productions.

The title and the first-look poster of the film were released by the makers on Tuesday and the title is Narappa. In the posters, Venkatesh is seen completely transforming himself into Narappa. The rugged look with a beard and grey hair is almost similar to how Dhanush looked in Asuran. Set in the 1980s, the film is based on the caste disparities in rural areas.

Venkatesh took to Twitter to share all the five first-look posters and wrote, “#Narappa”. The posters reveal that the shoot has begun and fans of the actor are excited to see Venkatesh in a mass avatar after a long time.

Set against the backdrop of the rustic Rayalaseema region, the action-drama will showcase Venkatesh in two different avatars. Reports claim that the elderly role will be shot in the initial schedules and then, the actor will take a break, lose some weight and then shoot for the younger portions. This sounds impressive.

Initially, there were rumours that Shriya Saran would be playing the leading lady of the film. But now, the news is that Priyamani will be reprising the role played by Manju Warrier.

There were many doubts initially whether the Venky Mama actor would be able to pull off such a role or not. Also, Venkatesh, while promoting Venky Mama, had said that many of his colleagues in the film industry have suggested him to not to take up the project. He said, “People have doubted my ability in the past too. But all it took me was just half an hour to decide about doing this film,” said the actor. Also, the actor said that after F2 and Venky Mama, Narappa is the perfect film for him.
