  • Directs Guntur Collector and State Government to ascertain land’s legality

Vijayawada: Based on the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by the Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy (RK), the Andhra Pradesh High Court has issued a notice to the Government and Guntur District Collector to enquire into the construction of TDP central office on government land.

Mr Ramakrishna Reddy had earlier filed a PIL in the High Court against the allotment of 3.6 acres of Vagu Poramboku land for the construction of the TDP party central office as the allocated land was illegal.

He appealed to the High Court to order the cancellation of G.O. No 228 that was issued on June 22, 2017.

Subsequently, Principal Secretary (Revenue), Principal Secretary (Irrigation and CAD department), Secretary (AP Land Management Authority), Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA), Commissioner, AP Capital Regional Development Authority (APCRDA), Engineer In Chief (Irrigation) and District Collector, Guntur were all served notices.

The Mangalagiri MLA’s PIL has astonished the bureaucratic circles, as the respondents, in this case, are all new to this subject. The officers in the earlier TDP Government have issued G.O.s and given permission to the TDP office, and now they are approaching the office of the Advocate General on as to how to go about the PIL.

One comment on "HC orders inquiry into construction of TDP office"

  • When power is in his hands, Chandrababu never cared for Gos, Acts, Court directions as both Judiciary and CBi was in his right and left pockets. In the case of Shamshabad Airport, 2200 acres were shifted in to Himayatsagar catchment area which is governed by Go111 of 1996 & Supreme Court order of December 2000 with precautionary principle [against the violation of GO111 by TDP government headed by Chandrababu]. With this ORR-Phase-I was laid to stop inflows to Himayatsagar lake. This lead to inundation of Rajendranagar. This year with heavy rains there was no inflows in to the lake. Environmental groups filed a PIL but this was thrown out. I personally approached CBI. They discussed with me for few hours and took photo copies of the documents and said sorry we can’t do much on this. Then in 2007 I filed a PIL in AP High Court. Government submitted a Memo ratifying GO111 and government agreed to bring out a lake protection authority. With all thse, with Shamshabad Airport hundreds of illegal layouts have come up along with several commercial activities with multistoried buildings — last two days Andhra Jyothi brought out these illegal activities. Also by shifting Airport fetched thousands of crores to TDP & friendly party leaders.
