Hyderabad airport to host India’s first ‘Airport Run’

Hyderabad: With the motto of ‘Run, Eat, Play, Repeat’, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) is all set to host the country’s first ‘Airport Run’ event on February 29. Named as ‘Hyderabad Airport Run 2020’, the programme aims to reach out to the people of the city, as well as the airport community, by organising the event in and around the airport campus.

Participants may take part in two categories: the 10K run and the 5K run. While the participation fee for the 10k run is Rs 800, it is Rs 500 fee for 5k run. Registrations may be done online . The portal will be open for the registrations till February 22.

The minimum age limit to participate in the run is 12 years for the 5K category and 14 years for the 10K run category respectively. The ‘Airport Run’ will begin from the GMR Arena, near the Novotel Hyderabad Airport Hotel.

Interestingly, selected participants from the Airport Run will also get the opportunity to win a guided educational tour through some of the specific airport operations such as Aircraft Maintenance Repair and Overhaul), Flight Simulation Centre, and Flight Kitchens.

Speaking about the Airport Run event, Mr. SGK Kishore, CEO of GMR led Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), said, “We are very excited to organize this event involving our employees, stakeholders and their families and the people of Hyderabad. Our aim is to engage with people and promote an active and healthy lifestyle through this Airport Run that will combine running with a range of fun activities. We plan to make it an annual feature”.

Aparna Constructions is the title sponsor while Aviserve and HMS Host will be platinum sponsors.
