Hyderabad commissioner asks city schools to take safety measures for school children

Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar released issued an advisory to city schools on Sunday regarding the safety of young schoolchildren. In it, he said that each school should designate one Transport Manager/Coordinator for ensuring the safety of the school children. Police verification of bus staff should be done before appointing them. Hyderabad city police will conduct an awareness programme and training for city schools regarding the safety of the school children.

Anjani Kumar further instructed schools to appoint a qualified attendant, preferably female in the bus to take care of the children. “School authorities must also provide for the travelling of at least one teacher in each school bus. This is keeping in mind the safety of students throughout the journey. No outsider, except the conductor, an authorised teacher or one person authorised by guardians shall be allowed to board the school bus. Medical check-up regarding the physical fitness of the driver, including eye testing, shall be conducted every year.”
