Hyderabad cook murdered for not wishing salaam, four arrested

Hyderabad: The Mailardevpally police arrested four persons on 8 September in connection with the death of a 28-year-old cook who was brutally murdered after he reportedly failed to wish one of them ‘salaam’.

Syed Amran Hashmi was reportedly angry with Shaik Jawed as the latter often admonished him for roaming the streets. On 5 September, Hashmi, along with his friends Shaik Azharuddin, Mohammed Hannan, and Mohammed Khan, stabbed Jawed to death.

According to the police, Jawed and Hashmi lived in neighboring colonies. Whenever Jawed noticed Hashmi on the streets, he would admonish him for roaming around. This often embarrassed Hashmi. When Jawed's questioning became a regular affair, Hashmi decided to kill him.

On 5 September, the four men were on their way to Owaisi hills on their motorbikes when they noticed Jawed and decided to execute their plan. They approached Jawed who greeted Hashmi with a ‘salam’ but ignored the others. Azhar picked up a fight with Jawed on the pretext that he had not wished them 'salaam'. Then, Hashmi held Jawed while the other three stabbed him. Jawed received multiple injuries and died on the spot.
