Hyderabad man allegedly raped 16-year-old girl, arrested

Hyderabad:A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man who is a close associate of an MLA from Malakpet. The incident took place at Chaderghat in Hyderabad in the early hours of Wednesday, 6 May.
The girl, who had lost her parents, was living with her uncle at Chaderghat. According to the Chaderghat police, Shakeel lived next to the uncle’s house. At around 1.30 a.m, the girl went outside to relieve herself when Shakeel allegedly dragged her into his home and sexually assaulted her.
Residents heard the girl's screams and rushed to Shakeel’s house. He tried to escape but they nabbed him and beat him up. He was later handed over to the police who have registered a case under relevant sections of the POCSO Act. The girl was sent to a hospital for medical examination and an investigation is underway.
Deputy Commissioner of Police M Ramesh said, " A case under 448 (Whoever commits house-trespass shall be punished with imprisonment) 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal code and section 3 & $ of POCSO act and section 3(2) of SCs/STs POA act has been registered at Chaderghat and the accused has been arrested and being produced in the court.
