Hyderabad MP Owaisi questions RAF flag march at Charminar

Hyderabad: A major political row has erupted after Rapid Action Force (RAF) carried out a flag march at Charminar on Saturday. Officials said the march was carried out to instill sense of security among the public in the wake of ongoing protests. Women RAF personnel were seen leading the flag march. Flag march is carried out by RAF when an area experiences communal riots.

Many questioned RAF flag march given the fact that the locality has remained peaceful and there were no reports of riots.

“Why only at CHARMINAR, why not in front of Secunderabad Railway Station or at Hi Tec City maybe in front of a US Software company?” tweeted Hyderabad MP and AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi.

Not only Owaisi, Independent Data Researcher, Srinivas Kodali also questioned the flag march by RAF.

“Flag march is done as a show of force to threaten people not to indulge in breaking the law in disturbed areas when there are acts of disturbance. Why is Hyderabad police showing force when the locality has no major reports of arson or riots?” he tweeted

Last time RAF conducted flag march in the area was during the holy fasting month of Ramzan. During Ramzan festival, RAF flag marched through Engine Bowli, Quadri Chaman, Venkateshwara Temple, Shivaji Nagar, Aliabad, Lal Darwaza Temple and Nawab Saheb Kunta.

On February 25, RAF conducted flag march in riot hit Northeast Delhi to instill confidence among the general public.
