Hyderabad police arrest rape accused in 24 hours

Pallakonda Veeraswamy, 38, from Hyderabad’s Rahmath Nagar raped a physically and mentally challenged woman, 30, on Thursday. Jubilee Hills police arrested the accused on Friday. The accused man was living on rent in a house owned by the victim’s mother.

The victim, who lives with her 80-year-old mother, was at home on the day of the incident. “On Thursday, the victim’s mother went to her brother’s house at L N Nagar on the occasion of Rakhi,” said M Tirupathanna, in charge Assistant Commissioner of Police, Banjara Hills division.

Taking advantage of the victim being alone at home, he entered her house and raped her. When the victim’s mother returned home in the evening, she found the victim sleeping on top of her daughter and alerted the neighbors. However, Veeraswamy managed to escape from the place.

However, under the supervision of CP Titupathanna, Jubilee Hills sub inspector G Shekar, and Jubilee Hills police staff, the accused was arrested within 24 hours.

Veerswamy, who was an agricultural labourer, had come to Hyderabad three months back along with his family. His wife had left him and went back to her village due to some differences between them. He is a native of Warangal's Nekkonda Mandal, Redlavada village. The accused’s sisters stay in Hyderabad.
