Hyderabad pub denies entry to woman wearing hijab

Hyderabad: A woman who was wearing a hijab was denied entry into the premises of Air Live a pub in Hyderabad on Friday. A group of friends had gone to Air Live Hyderabad when she was asked to take off her hijab as it did not sync with the western culture. It is alleged that the manager of the pub asked one of the friends of the woman to inform her to go to the washroom and remove her hijab.

According to the group, when they asked the manager what kind of a rule this is? He first said it is not in sync with the western culture. As the argument continued, the manager changed his statement and said, “I meant you could sit at the back in the sofa, if that's okay." Furious the group left the place immediately.

Speaking to Newsmeter, the manager of Air Live, Prakash said, “We requested one of the friends to ask the woman to take off her hijab as it does not come under our dress code. We don't allow woman wearing saris and men wearing flip-flops as well.”

The group explained the issue to the bouncers who apologised and asked them to return which they refused.
