Hyderabad water board books man for illegal water connection

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad water supply board booked a criminal case against a man from Giyaguda for illegal water connection.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HWSSB) vigilance officials filed the case as per the orders of the MD, M. Dana Kishore, against Moinuddin. The case was registered in Kulsumpura police station, under Sections 269 and 430 (mischief by injury to works of irrigation or by wrongfully diverting water) of the IPC.

Moinuddin, instead of applying for a water connection, had illegally diverted water from a pipeline laid by the HWSSB. The officials booked a case against him to warn people against getting illegal water connections. If anybody is found having an illegal water connection or anybody is using a domestic connection for commercial purposes the HWSSB can be notified in these numbers: 9989998100, 9989992268.

In December 2019, the HWSSB had come up with a voluntary disclosure scheme for people with illegal connections. Under this scheme, upon disclosure people with illegal water connections would be provided regular connections.
