Hyderabad: Telangana High Court has directed the police to investigate the demolition of the gated community compound wall and road construction at Bachupally in Medchal–Malkajgiri district.
The court asked the police to submit the report after investigating the matter.
High Court questions road construction
Hearing a petition filed by the residents’ association of APR Pranav Antilia Gated Community in Nizampet, the court questioned how a road appeared after authorities claimed they had not carried out any construction.
Justice N.P. Sravan Kumar observed that if both the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and HYDRAA deny laying the road, it must be determined who actually built it.
Police asked to conduct inquiry
The court directed the Station House Officers of Bachupally, Jagadgirigutta, and Dundigal police stations to conduct an inquiry into the matter and submit a detailed report. The next hearing of the case has been posted to April 7.
Residents challenge demolition
The gated community association approached the High Court, challenging the demolition of the compound wall and the alleged construction of a road through the property.
Counsel for the petitioners told the court that a portion of the compound wall had been partially demolished in 2024, after which some residents moved to the High Court and obtained status quo orders.
However, they argued that authorities issued a final notice on March 5 directing the removal of the alleged illegal construction within two days, and on March 9, the compound wall was demolished, and a road was laid, which they claimed was unlawful.
Authorities deny building the road
The counsel representing HMDA argued that, as per the approved layout plan, compound walls should not block designated roads. Meanwhile, the counsel appearing for HYDRAA told the court that the agency had not undertaken any road construction at the site.
After hearing both sides, the judge questioned how the road came into existence if neither HMDA nor HYDRAA carried out the work, and ordered the police to investigate and submit their findings before the next hearing.
