Inside EAGLE raid at Taramati Baradari: How officials flagged suspects without disrupting event
Hyderabad: More details regarding the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) raid at Taramati Baradari in Ibrahim Bagh on Saturday revealed the intelligence information gathered by the officials before the raid.
How the raid was implemented
Intelligence was gathered on attendees and 35 individuals suspected of drug consumption were shortlisted. Without disrupting the ongoing event, the teams conducted a surprise check. Using ABONN urine drug test kits, 5 tested positive for ganja.
Additional testing revealed one more individual positive for AMP (Amphetamines). In total, 6 persons were confirmed as drug consumers.
The individuals voluntarily admitted to drug abuse. Information about their networks was collected and their parents/guardians will be contacted to ensure they undergo de-addiction programs, with the hope that they have not developed severe dependency.
On credible information, during the intervening night of April 04/05, the EAGLE Force of the State Task Force, Cyberabad and Hyderabad Narcotics Police Stations staff, Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW), in coordination with Golconda Police Station staff under the Hyderabad Commissionerate, conducted a raid on Taramati Baradari, Golconda, Hyderabad, within the limits of Gachibowli PS.
During the operation, six individuals were apprehended for the consumption of drugs/ganja.
What was the case about?
The EAGLE Force, Telangana, Hyderabad, initiated an operation to curb large-scale drug abuse occurring in pubs, hotels and other public areas.
Acting on inputs that the Taramati Baradari (located at Golconda, Hyderabad) was hosting a special party with international DJ ‘More than Friends’, the law enforcement units formed five teams to conduct a surprise raid.
A case has been registered under Section 27(b) of the NDPS Act, 1985, at Hyderabad Narcotics Police Station and further investigation is in progress.
