MMTS to resume another 45 trains from 1st July

The suburban transport service in the twin cities is one of the cheapest and economical modes of transport.

MMTS to resume another 45 trains from 1st July

Hyderabad: After resuming MMTS (Multi-Modal Transport Service) services in the city with only 10 trains on 23 June, the South Central Railway on Monday announced that the MMTS Railways has approved the resumption of 45 additional trains from 1 July.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in view of the need to curtail the spread of the virus, MMTS services in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad was suspended from 23 March 2020. However, in line with the gradual resumption of train services, the MMTS train services had resumed on 23 June with only 10 trains.

The suburban transport service in the twin cities is one of the cheapest and economical modes of transport. The MMTS service was started to cater the needs of intra-city and suburban traffic on 9 August 2003.

MMTS covers a stretch of 50 km with over 29 railway stations. The minimum fare is Rs. 5 while the maximum is Rs. 15. In fact, the minimum fare has been the same since the launch of the MMTS services. Season tickets are also available for daily commuters.
