IAS officer Amrapali Kata, among the youngest to serve as deputy secretary in Union cabinet

Hyderabad: IAS officer Amrapali Kata of batch 2010, is deputed to the center to serve as ‘deputy secretary’ in the Union cabinet secretariat. The officer is among the youngest bureaucrats to be appointed to the post.

The official transfer order was issued from the establishment officer to GOI, department of personnel & training – New Delhi on October 28th 2019. The order said, “Ms. Amrapali Kata was recommended for Central deputation by the state government (referring to Telangana) . She has been selected for appointment as deputy secretary in the cabinet secretariat – under the central staffing scheme for 4 years’.

The center has directed the Telangana state government to relieve her from duties to take up a new assignment. The officer has been given three weeks time to take charge.

Months before this posting, the IAS officer was selected for the post of private secretary to the Union Minister for Home G. Kishen Reddy.

Ms Kata has served in various capacities in the state of Telangana. A native of Vishakhapatnam district of AP, the IAS officer Amrapali Kata, has served as a collector of Warangal Urban district, besides working with the GHMC and TS election Commission. The 2010 batch officer is married to IPS officer Sameer Sharma, of 2011 batch.
