Identity of woman whose charred body was found, traced

Hyderabad: The investigation into a missing case of a degree student, registered at Brahmapura in Kalaburagi district of Karnataka, led police to trace the identity of the charred body of a pregnant woman found at Parigi in Vikarabad district a week ago. Police found the woman, Sheeba Estheer Rani(22), a degree student who was pregnant died during a botched abortion procedure, after which her boyfriend, Ravi Kumar with who she was in a relationship, brought her body to Parigi and set in on fire. Though the accused travelled close to 150 km with the body in a car, he was not intercepted anywhere en route, even at the checkposts on the state border.

Superintendent of Police Vikarabad district M Narayana said since the offence took place at Brahmapura, the murder case registered at Parigi will be transferred to them for further investigation.

Last Thursday, the charred body of a woman and the fetus was found near Rangampally gate at Parigi. The details of the body along with the clues were shared with the neighbouring police stations and the Karnataka police.

Meanwhile, a missing case was registered at Brahmapura police station last Wednesday.

While investigating the missing case, Brahmapura police teams traced the victims call data records and even tracked her mobile tower location. They picked up Ravi Kumar for questioning, who confessed during the interrogation. Based on the information, a team came to Parigi and contacted the Parigi police.

Further the pictures of the charred body and its physical features matched those of the missing woman's. Based on that the victim was identified.
