IMD predicts thundershowers in Telangana in next 24 hours
By Newsmeter Network Published on 26 Jun 2020 1:43 PM GMTHyderabad: Due to a weak southwest monsoon activity in Telangana, the state has been experiencing a dry spell, especially cities like Hyderabad. However, the Indian Metereological department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorm accompanied by lightning in isolated places over Telangana for 27 June. Heavy rain is also likely to occur at isolated places of the state, the weather body said in its forecast.
While the southwest monsoon has been weak, isolated regions such as Kodangal in Vikarabad district, Mahabubabad district, and Yellandu in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district received rainfall in the past 24 hours in the state.
The dry spell in Hyderabad could be due to the increased weather activity over the eastern parts of the country, which includes states like Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Uttar Pradesh, said Mahesh Palawat, the head of Skymet, a private weather forecasting body. āMoisture content is currently present over these areas. The dry spell witnessed here will not last long and the state will see thundershowers and rain from 27 June,ā he said, adding that from 29 June the trough is expected to extend from Bihar towards Telangana and the sultry weather will give way to rain.
According to the IMDās weather inference, there is a cyclonic circulation over southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal and a trough has been noted from Bihar to east Vidarbha across north Chhattisgarh.
