In highest single-day spike, Telangana reports 7 COVID deaths

Hyderabad: Telangana saw its highest number of COVID-19 deaths in a single day on 3 June after seven more deaths were reported in the state, taking the death toll to 99. The state also reported 129 new cases on Wednesday.

According to the state health department, 127 are local cases while two are migrant labourers.

So far, 206 migrants, 212 deportees, and 2,572 locals have tested positive for COVID-19. According to government data, currently, 1,365 people are undergoing treatment for corona virus in various hospitals while 1,556 patients have been discharged.

PLASMA TRANSFUSION AT GANDHI HOSPITAL:

In the wake of this pandemic, plasma transfusion has been the subject of increasing attention even in Telangana.

As a part of ICMR clinical trial, five patients from Telangana were given plasma transfusion at Gandhi Hospital, Hyderabad. “All mandatory protocols set by ICMR were duly followed during the therapy. The therapy was introduced to the patients when their oxygen saturation levels dropped below 84% - 90%. Two transfusions were given to each of the 5 patients. After the completion of therapy, all the 5 patients reported clinical improvement. One patient (P1311) has already been discharged, 3 are no longer oxygen dependent and while patient ( P1647) is under intermittent dependency. Regarding donors, 5 recovered patients came forward to donate plasma,” the medical bulletin said.

DIALYSIS FOR COVID PATIENTS:

Around 75 dialysis cycles have been provided to COVID positive patients at the exclusive dialysis facility in Gandhi Hospital, the authorities informed.
