Indigo employee, on return to Hyderabad, dies at Delhi airport

Hyderabad: Delhi International Airport on March 21, reported a suspicious death. A man, who landed on Indian soil, collapsed and subsequently died at the Indira Gandhi International Airport at Delhi.

The 44-year-old man is a resident of Bowenpally –Hyderabad. He was travelling via Indigo flight from Indonesia to India. ‘After clearing the thermal screening and necessary health protocols, the man was waiting for immigration clearance, but collapsed around this time and died’ the officials at the Delhi airport said.

The Hyderabad man, is an employee of Indigo airlines and was posted at Jakarta in Indonesia along with a team of employees. In view of the Coronavirus outbreak, the team were asked to return to India immediately.

Reportedly, he and along with his team landed at Delhi in the wee hours of Saturday. After going through the procedures, he moved towards the immigration area and was waiting for his turn. During this process, he collapsed.

The airport emergency team rushed to his rescue and provided him with first aid however it was too late. The man was declared dead, his body was moved from the airport security to a nearby hospital for inquest procedures.

The cause of death ascertained by the doctor was ‘primarily Pulmonary Cardiac Arrest’. Further investigation is underway, the officials added.
