International Red sander smuggler, Gangi Reddy, released on bail

Kadapa: The International red sandal smuggler, Kollam Gangi Reddy was released on bail from Kadapa Central Prison on Tuesday evening. Tirupathi court issued bail for all the 42 cases against him. Kollam Gangi Reddy had absconded from the country when the Telugu Desam Government formed in AP in 2014. He toured Dubai, Malaysia and a few other countries.

As he was involved in the red sandal smuggling cases, the government issued a red corner notice through the police to arrest him anywhere in the world. The police caught him in Mauritius and brought him to India in November 2015.

He was in Kadapa Central Prison for the past 3 years and 8 months. There was a Preventive Detection Act (PDA) imposed

on him by the Kadapa District Authorities. When the time frame on the PD Act lapsed and he received bail for all the 42 cases and released from the Kadapa Central Prison.

Previously he was an accused in the murder attempt on former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu near Alipiri Check

post in Tirupathi, Tirumala Road. Afterwards, he was granted bail and the court case was cleared.

His brother Kollam Brahmananda Reddy, who died a year and a half back, was a very close associate to the former

Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy. He worked as president of District Co-operative Central Bank, Kadapa and acted as the party's in-charge for the Railway Kodur Constituency. His uncle and former Mandal president, Pullampeta Babul Reddy and followers welcomed

him at Central Prison premises.
