Hyderabad: In a bizarre incident, an angry bank employee shot dead his neighbour’s pet dog using an air gun at Saroornagar of Hyderabad on Sunday. The eight-year-old canine Jackie sustained a bullet injury and died on the spot.

The series of events connects two pet owners, namely Devender, a businessperson and owner of Jackie, and Avinash Kiran, who works as HDFC bank, manager. Both of them reside at Chowdi area, says police officer S Raju Yadav.

On the afternoon of December 22, Jackie went out into the colony from its home. It went close to Avinash’s residence and started barking, irritating Avinash’s pets. The bank employee, enraged, tried to shoo it away. Seeing that Jackie didn’t budge, Avinash shot the dog dead.

As the news spread, police swung into action, identified the pet’s body and its killer. Saroornagar police registered a case, detained Avinash for questioning, and seized the weapon used in the offence. Further investigation is underway.
