Amaravati: Teams from Chennai’s Income Tax department carried out searches against self-styled godman ‘Kalki Bhagavan’, the sleuths searched the famous temple located in Varadaiahpalem in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.

In a robust move the IT department conducted searched at 40 locations, a majority of them falling in Tamil Nadu , Andhra Pradesh , few properties in Hyderabad and Karnataka.

Reportedly, four teams from Chennai’s IT Anti Tax invasion wing, on early Wednesday, began searches at the temple spreading across acres built on the grounds of the Oneness University campus of Sri Bhagavan’s ashram, 90 kilometers from Chennai.

As the controversial spiritual leader’s movement grew exceedingly popular, Kalki Bhagavan has drawn massive following from India and abroad including celebrities. This followed huge funding to Kalki Bhagavana trust. Many NRI follow his believing that Kalki can deliver instant nirvana.

However the family has been on the IT radar since allegation of misappropriate investments surfaced.

Concurrently , IT sleuths carried out searches at Kalki Bhagavan’s properties in Hyderabad. Tax men searched ‘Studio N’ ( a satellite channel ) located at Panchavati colony at Manikonda. The channel is reportedly run by Kalki Bhagavan trust.

It is to note, Mr. Narne Srinivas Rao , father-in-law to Tollywood actor Junior NTR once owned Studio N. In the 2014, Srinivas Rao sold all stakes to Kalki Trust. The family no longer owns any stake in Studio N.

Besides, Studio N, the Kalki trust also owned a devotional channel however it shut shop. Reportedly, in the recent times the management of Studio N has been encountering financial crises.

Searches were also held at WL Structure Private limited located at Jubilee hills, Hyderabad. The company is owned by Krishna Nemam Kurral Vijay Kumar , son of the self-styled godman.

The longest serving director currently on board is Krishna Nemam Kurral Vijay Kumar and the the most recently appointed director is Jyothirmayee Chundi.

The Film nagar office of Kalki trust , besides a palatial guest house in Jubilee hills, were searched.

Sources revealed that teams have been deployed following intelligence input.
