Sridevi was found dead in her hotel bathroom by her husband Boney Kapoor. The couple had flown to Dubai to attend a wedding. Her untimely death plunged scores of her fans in grief.

The whole country, including the various film fraternities, recalled her timeless performances and how she rose to the top of not just Bollywood, but even regional film industries, including Tamil, Kannada and Telugu.

Sridevi was the only actress to have worked with the who's who of the entire film industry. She starred in the lead role opposite superstars such as Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, NTR, Amitabh Bachchan, Jitendra, Anil Kapoor and so on.

After a long hiatus, she returned to the big screen with English Vinglish, giving movie goers the opportunity to catch a glimpse of her acting prowess, all over again. She was even seen in Mom in 2017 and her last screen appearance was a cameo in SRK's Zero. Unfortunately, she could not see her daughter's debut. She was quite enthusiastic about the debut, going by the interviews she had given before her untimely death.

Her death is still shrouded in mystery with many theories going around that an accidental slip into a bathtub in an inebriated state would not have led to drowning. Fans continue to mourn her death. They assert that nobody can replace her in Indian cinema.
