The deceased is identified as Tejaswini, a first-year MSc (Chemistry) student of SVKP Arts and Science College at Penugonda. The accused is Sudhakar.

Sudhakar hacked Tejaswini to death in broad daylight and in front of some students and few others. They were all waiting for the bus at Kavitam Village. Minutes after the death of Tejaswini, Sudhakar consumed the harmful chemical to end his life.

Police said that Tejaswini was a native of Pentakota village under Tadepalligudum Mandal. She had been staying with her grandmother at Kavitam after she lost her father a couple of years ago.

Tejaswini used to cycle to reach Kavitam Bus Stand from her home to catch the college bus.

The jilted Sudhakar developed grudge on Tejaswini for refusing his proposal and decided to kill her. Observing that Tejaswini cycles to reach the bus station, the jilted Sudhakar followed her on Wednesday morning.

Minutes after Tejaswini reached the bus-stand, Sudhakar hacked her to death with a knife and he also consumed the harmful chemical to end his life. Sudhakar was admitted to a local hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.

The police said that Sudhakar is a married man and he has filed a petition for divorce from his wife in the family court. Sudhakar has been harassing Tejaswini on the guise of love.

We have registered a case against Sudhakar under Section 302 of IPC (Murder Case), and the investigation is on.
