Jubilee Hills police sat on my rape complaint: Aspiring model

Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills police station of Hyderabad where a sub-inspector was caught red-handed accepting a bribe and the inspector surrendered in the same case after 24 hours of hiding, is in the face of another controversy. This time for not acting on the complaint of an aspiring model who had approached the Jubilee cops with a complaint of rape and threat to kill her.

The woman says she had lodged a complaint on January 7 alleging that she was raped by a man and his friend. Despite the woman saying that the duo had filmed the assault, no case was registered. After she approached the media alleging negligence in acting on her complaint, the Jubilee police claimed that they had already detained two persons.

The 21-year-old woman said that she moved to the city last year to pursue a career in modelling. She was staying in a women’s hostel at Yellareddyguda of Jubilee Hills which is run by a woman. The son of the hostel owner, Rishi, befriended her.

On the night of Decmeber 28, when she was alone in the penthouse of the hostel, Rishi and his Nikhil Reddy entered the place in a drunk state. Seeing their condition, she asked them to leave at once, but Rishi allegedly overpowered her and raped her. Meanwhile, Nikhil forcibly took her mobile phone and sent some SMSs to Rishi’s mobile as if she had sent them.

The aspiring model said the duo threatened to kill her if she complained to the police. They also claimed that Nikhil had recorded the rape on his mobile phone and would upload it on social media if she spoke about the incident.

In the wake of this complaint and the arrest of the inspector of Jubilee hills police station, senior officials are now verifying if the tainted cops had connived with the accused to ignore the woman's complaint.
