K for Kalvalu, C for Cheruvulu, R for Reservoirlu: KTR redefines dad KCR

Hyderabad: MAUD minister KT Rama Rao has redefined the initials of his father and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) saying K stands for Kalvalu (canals), C stands for Cheruvulu (tanks) and R stands for Reservoirlu (Reservoirs).

“Medigadda nundi Kondapochamma varaku.. 82 meterla ettu nundi 618 meterla ettuvaraku ( From Medigadda to Kondapochamma.. From 82 meters to 618 meters. SIC) World’s largest multi-state lift irrigation project(sic) completed in 3 years by India’s youngest state Telangana(sic)” he tweeted sharing a few pictures of the project.

The minister, who is also the working president of the ruling TRS party, took to twitter as KCR inaugurated Markook pumphouse in Siddipet district, which is the last of the giant multi-stage Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation project. Water was released to the newly built Kondapochammasagar reservoir, also located in the Siddipet district.

“Besides irrigating 2.85 Lakh acres of land, Kondapochamma Sagar reservoir along with soon to be started Keshavapuram reservoir will ensure a permanent solution for drinking water needs of Hyderabad. All thanks to Hon’ble CM KCR’s vision to build infrastructure for long term(sic)” KT Rama Rao wrote.

In this phase of the project, water from the Godavari will be pumped into the Konda Pochamma Sagar, which is part of the Kaleshwaram project. The water will be lifted from Laxmi Barrage at Medigadda. The reservoir, which is at a height of 618 meters, has a storage capacity of 15 TMC and will pump water to the arid lands which, to date, has no irrigation facilities.

The project was named Konda Pochamma Sagar after the Konda Pochamma temple located along the borders of Medak, Warangal, and Nalgonda districts. The Komuravelli Mallikarjuna (Mallanna) temple, is also located nearby.

KCR has named the biggest Kaleswaram project as Mallanna Sagar and the reservoir constructed on the highest point as Konda Pochamma Sagar.
