Kaappaan fails to satisfy the hype

Hyderabad: The much-awaited Suriya-starter Kaappaan, in Telugu as Bandobast, released today to mixed reviews. While the audiences rated its action sequences well, they felt that the weak writing didn’t carry forward the movie. It was especially felt in the latter half, 1described as lacking conviction.

Suriya plays an SPG commando in the actioner, which is the third venture between the actor and director KV Anand. The film focuses on the actor’s efforts to protect the nation and the Indian Prime Minister from a foreign threat. The movie also presents Mollywood star Mohanlal, who portrayed the role of the Prime Minister, Sayyeshaa and Arya. The project bankrolled by Lyca Productions has music by Harris Jayaraj.

While there was a huge hype surrounding the film, the reviews mention that it was only able to partially live up to expectations. They, however, note that Suriya and Mohanlal performed very well in their capacities.
