Kangana brings alive Amma

Hyderabad: Finally, the makers of Thalaivi have unveiled the first look of actress Kangana Ranaut as Jayalalithaa. The film, which was announced earlier this year, is directed by AL Vijay.

It is based on the life of J Jayalalitha and is in production stages. Filming of the prestigious venture being made simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu began in Chennai, recently.

Kangana Ranaut plays the titular role and Arvind Swami will be seen as MG Ramachandran aka MGR, while Prakash Raj will portray M Karunanidhi.

The first look poster and teaser of Thalaivi have been unveiled in all three languages. Kangana has nailed it in the old avatar of Jayalalitha and bore a striking resemblance to the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

The teaser shows two avatars of Jayalalitha as a star heroine of Indian cinema and then as hero of Tamil Nadu state as the chief minister. Dressed in the yesteryear avatar in skin tight pants and sleeveless top, and up with braided hair, Kangana dons the retro avatar and is understood that she is shooting for a scene.

The film is produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R Singh. Renowned makeup artist Jason Collins, who had worked in Hollywood films namely, Blade Runner and Captain Marvel is behind the perfect look of Kangana as Jayalalitha.

The film is slated for release on June 26, 2020.
