Kangana Ranaut wins Padma Shri award for excellence in performing arts

Hyderabad: Actress Kangana Ranaut has been awarded Padma Shri for excellence in the field of performing arts, officials announced on Saturday. She is one of those few actresses in Bollywood who has made an impact and made it big in the industry despite having no godfather.

The actress is currently basking on the success of her latest flick Panga, in which she has played a middle-class mother whose family encourages her to give a second to her career in sports. Kangana has got into the skin of the character and has done justice to the role. She is receiving praises from all over for her performance in the Ashwini Iyer directorial and the news of winning the Padma Shri is like a cherry on the cake to the actress and her team.

Responding to the announcement, the 32-year-old actress, in a press statement said, “A visibly elated Kangana says, "I’m humbled and I’m honoured. I thank my country for this recognition and I dedicate this to every woman who dares to dream. To every daughter... to every mother... and to the dreams of women who will shape the future of our country.”

Fans of the actress are super happy for her success and they couldn’t be happier.

Kangana started her career pretty early and right at the age of 17, she has bagged some big achievements. She has done many films and has faced many ups and downs in her life, and film career as well.

She has done some amazing films like Gangster, Fashion, Tanu Weds Manu, Queen, Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Manikarnika, Judgemental Hai Kya, and now Panga. She is busy shooting for Thalaivi, a multilingual film, which a biopic on actress turned politician Jayalalitha.

Many of the films she has been part of have become game-changers in Bollywood and she has proved that here is to stay. Also, she fought against nepotism and has always been straight forward to in letting her heart out.
