Telangana : KCR names irrigation barrages after Hindu Goddesses

Hyderabad : Telanagana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao who is known for his extreme faith in the divine has named several irrigation barrages and pump houses in the state after Hindu Goddesses.
The flagship multi-crore Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) that has been built at a cost of Rs 80,000 crore, has several barrages and pump houses. So far five have been named.
The Medigadda barrage and the Kannepally pump house have been named after the goddess Lakshmi. While the pump house at Lakshmipuram has been named after the goddess Gayatri. The Annaram barrage and the Siripuram pump house were named after goddess Sarawati. The name of goddess Parvati was given to the Sundilla barrage and the Golidwada pump house. Lord Shivaās mythological vehicle Nandi was given to the Nandi Medaram reservoirs cum pump house.
Mr Rao is known to be a strong believer in astrology, vastu and numerology. He has performed a number of expensive āyagamsā in the past. In 2018, after he retained power in the state, the CM conducted a mammoth āRajashyamala yagamā at his farmhouse in Erravalli. In 2015, Mr Rao KCR performed the āAyutha Chandi Yagamā.
A twitter user who goes by the handle @subhansmh said, āWould have considered one pump houses to be named after muslim saints, Sikh gurus and historians (sic).ā
