Keshampet SI tortured me over vague allegation: Shadnagar man

Hyderabad: In the latest incident of police high-handedness, the Cyberabad police brutally beat a man here on 6 July. The man, Narsimhulu, received severe injuries and was later admitted to the government hospital in Shadnagar.

This comes at a time when the custodial deaths of P. Jeyaraj and his son Fenix in Tamil Nadu's Tuticorin district have sparked outrage in the country.

Videos of Narsimhulu crying in pain has gone viral on social media. In the video, he claimed that he was tortured by a sub-inspector of the Keshampet police station. Senior police officers of the Cyberabad commissionerate have already launched damage control measures and are forcing Narsimhulu to withdraw his allegations and also delete the videos.

Narsimhulu is from Papireddyguda village under Keshampet mandal in Rangareddy district, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. He was summoned to the Keshampet police station on Monday on the allegations that he had abused another person. “When I reached the police station, the sub-inspector started beating me with a belt. I tried to ask him what was the reason but he abused me and kept beating me. I tried to explain but he was unwilling to listen to me,” Narsimhulu said.

The cop stopped beating him only after he had lost all his strength and started crying. Then he was allowed to leave the police station. When the senior police officers came to know that Narsimhulu was talking to the media about the incident, they tried to seek a compromise and even arranged for his treatment.
