Kodela suicide to be confirmed after autopsy report: DCP

Hyderabad: West zone deputy commissioner of police on Monday said that the reason for the death of former AP speaker Kodela Siva Prasad can only be confirmed after the post mortem examination. This comes after several rumours are doing the rounds that he might have committed suicide.

In an official statement, West zone deputy commissioner of police said, “Kodela was brought dead to the hospital. His family members had informed the police that he tried to end his life by hanging. They found him and shifted him to the cancer hospital, where doctors tried to revive him but couldn't. His suicide can be confirmed only after the post mortem examination. The autopsy will be done at the Osmania mortuary. A case under Section 174 of the CRP has been registered.”

Former speaker of Andhra Pradesh Kodela Siva Prasad Rao died on Monday afternoon. Reportedly, the senior Telugu Desam (TD) leader was shifted to the Basava Tarakam hospital in Hyderabad after his family found him in a critical condition at his Banjara Hills Residence.

Dr Kodela was the home minister in NTR's cabinet in 1985 and held several portfolios in former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Cabinet.
