Kothagudem DSP and family cook tested COVID-19 +Ve, govt draws contamination borders

Hyderabad : In what has shaken the Telangana health department is, 'local transmission' ( primary contact tested positive, with no travel history) for COVID-19 has begun in the state. A total of 5 cases have been reported as on March 23, 2020. And, this has led the government to draw new 'contaminated' borders.

Much to our horror, Telangana Cop's London-returned son, who dodged quarantined and attended a function , turned out to be the primary reason for local transmission in two cases. According to new health bulletin, Deputy Superintendent of Police - Kothadugem and their family cook, were tested positive. Both were primary contact of a COVID-19 patient (referring to the son).

' Till date thirty nine (39) positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported. Patient ( 38) is a 57 year-old-male (referring to the Deputy SP) who is a primary contact of a Positive case from Bhadradri Kothagudem (referring to his son). While patient (39) is a female ( family cook) who came in contact with the COVID-19 patient', said the health officials

Notably, both the cases are contacts and do not have any history of international travel in the past 14 days.

How Telangana Cop's son dodged quarantine ?

The sub divisional police officer from Bhadadri Kothagudem's son had come to Hyderabad from London via Dubai. From there on March 18th, at around 6:30 am he reached Kothagudem, he traveled via road. The following day, he (patient ) attended a function in Chintalapudi and had even visited places. Notably, the patient even after returning from a COVID-19 hit country , dodged the mandatory quarantined and roamed around various places within the district.

As the News broke, Telangana police booked them for defying orders. 'The police officer and his son , disobeyed the orders of doctors and went to places. Following this a case under section 188 of IPC has been booked against them' said', Telangana police officials.

The patient was tested positive for Coronavirus on March 22nd night. The 23-year-old has reportedly returned from London on March 18 and was shifted to Gandhi Hospital two days later, after he developed symptoms. A video of the patient being shifted to Gandhi hospital went viral and what astonished many was the senior cop used his gun man, sans any prevent measures to shift into the ambulance, while the family stayed away. Currently 22 people who came in contact with the patient have been isolated.
