KTR responds to Meera Chopras tweet after Jr. NTR fans abuse, threaten her

Hyderabad: Actress Meera Chopra faced threats and abuses online from fans of Tollywood actor Jr. NTR after the actress, during an interaction with her fans recently, said she did not know who the actor was. In a tweet, she had requested Telangana IT and industries minister K.T Rama Rao and former Nizamabad MP K. Kavitha to look into the matter and start an investigation. She had also filed a complaint with the Hyderabad cybercrime unit against those who were threatening to rape and kill her family.

On 5 June, KTR responded to the actress' tweet and said he has informed the DGP and commissioner of police to take action against people named in the complaint. "Ma’m, I have requested @TelanganaDGP and @CPHydCity to take stern action as per law based on your complaint," he tweeted.

Meera has also written to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy about the online abuse she is facing.

During a recent interaction with her fans on Twitter, Meera, when asked who her favorite Telugu actor was, had replied Mahesh Babu. This answer did not sit well with NTR's fans and they abused and threatened to rape and kill her.

The actress has filed a complaint with the cybercrime department and the National Women's Commission. Chinamyi Sripaada, too, tweeted asking her to file a complaint against the accounts that were disparaging her.
