Land owners threatened with guns on land grabbed by Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: When compound walls were being built around the 10.21 acre land in survey number 127 in Gopanpally village, Serilingampally Mandal, the owners of the land went ahead to stop it. The moment they entered the premises, they were allegedly pushed out by goons, who were overseeing the construction work.

“We were even threatened that we would be shot dead. Cases were booked against us by the police. 21 of us are doing the rounds to the court,” said the owners of the land when they met the Ranga Reddy Collector regarding the six acres of land allegedly taken over by Congress MP Revanth Reddy.

Their family members from Gopanpally Tanda said that they should be handed back their lands. The land owner, I Lakshamayya has five sons, Mallayya, Hanmayya, Ellayya, Ramayya & Kishnayya.

All the 21 people were booked by police in various cases while they hope the courts will render justice. Two Tahsildars, Rajeshwar Reddy and Subba Rao, are reportedly involved in this along with Srinivas Reddy while Revenue officials have played a crucial role in mutating the land to Kondal Reddy which belonged to the farmers. Incidentally, Srinivas Reddy is under suspension and Subba Rao and Rajeshwar Reddy have retired. Hence orders are sent to the government to take actions on them. Ranga Reddy Collector also made his intentions clear that he will go by the orders by the government.

“My uncle was threatened with a gun as he was called to give money by Kondal Reddy. The Police did not take our complaint. They gave us 24 hours before filing cases against us,” the victim’s nephew said.
