Life Care Hospital MD , 2 doctors arrested for prenatal sex determination

Hyderabad: The managing director of Life Care Hospital V. Anjaneyulu and two doctors J Raghava Reddy and Dr. Shravani have been arrested for conducting prenatal sex determination examination.

The Uppal Police and She teams Rachakonda police conducted a decoy operation on Life Care Hospital, near Gandhi Statue, Uppal. Cops arrested two doctors and the managing director on the spot, after they revealed the sex of the baby post examination.

The She teams received a tip off from a source regarding prenatal sex examination being conducted illegally on pregnant woman at Life Care Hospital. On receiving information, the district medical health officer Ms Pallavi and sub-inspector of police Jayaram serving at Uppal proceeded to Life Care Hospital. They took along a woman police constable who is 6 months pregnant. As part of the decoy operation the women police constable enacted to know the sex of the baby. She approached Dr Shravani for the examination, a sum of Rs 15000 was charged.

On coming to an agreement, the managing director of Life Care Hospital and Dr Raghava conducted the examination. On disclosing that it is a baby girl, the cops apprehended the trio and seized cash along with the sex determination machine.

So far, the Rachakonda police arrested 5 MBBS doctors from three multi-specialist hospitals at Uppal, Medipaly and Choutuppal. Following the same modus operandi, the cops arrested two, Dr Uma Maheshwari and Dr Chandra from Sri Krishna Multi special hospital in Uppal. In the second case Dr. E Prashanti and her husband Dr E.Babu Sridhar from Prashanthi Hospital, Choutuppal and Dr Chanda Vijaya Kumar and his wife Chanda Swathi from Sri Venkateshwara Diagnostic center at Budha Nagar - Peerzadiguda.
