Locals break locks of Sammakka Saarakka to perform puja

Warangal: Ahead of Medaram Jatara, a group of youth barged into Sammakka-Saarakka after breaking the locks of the main gate to perform puja at the revered shrine.

Over a crore people are expected to join four-day Medaram Jatara at Tadvai of Mulugu district.

The incident took place when a local identified as S. Ramesh along with his friends came for a darshan and found the gates locked. He then called one of the volunteers and asked him to open the gates.

When the volunteer refused, Ramesh started arguing. “We are priests. How can you not open the doors for us?“ he asked.

The volunteer told Ramesh that they had closed the doors on the orders of the collector and it can't be opened now.

Ramesh along with his group then broke the lock of the gate and performed puja at the sanctum sanctorum.
