Man arrested for hosting party during lockdown in AP’s West Godavari district

West Godavari: Police have arrested a man for defying lockdown by organizing a family get together in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh

Identified as A Sudhakar at Akkampeta in West Godavari district, he was arrested by Jangareddigudem police for organizing a party to celebrate the wedding of his relative.

Police had warned Sudhakar to postpone the event. However he ignored the warning prompting the police to book him under section 188, 269 and 270 of IPC.

Police said Naka checking is being conducted at every important junction in all the towns of West Godavari district.

Officials of the various departments are appealing to people to stay indoors and cooperate with the administration to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
