Man attempts suicide outside CMs residence

Hyderabad: A man allegedly attempted suicide outside Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao's residence at Pragati Bhavan.

The man was identified as K. Mallesh, an auto driver from Old Malakpet in the city. It is alleged that fed up with repeated arguments with his wife he consumed phenyl in front of the CM's residence, said the police.

On Sunday at 9.30 pm, Mallesh walked towards the CM's residence, inquired if the CM was at home and even before security personnel could react, emptied the bottle and collapsed on the ground. The security personnel dragged him into the premises of a private hospital located beside the residence of the CM. Minutes later, a patrol vehicle from Punjagutta police station arrived at the spot and shifted the victim to a nearby corporate hospital.

The victim is being treated and is said to be out of danger. Meanwhile, police are verifying the reason behind the extreme step and his motive to take the extreme step at the CM's residence.
