Man dies of COVID-19, toll increases to 34 in Andhra Pradesh

Vijayawada: The COVID-19 death toll has increased to 34 after another person succumbed to the infection in Andhra Pradesh.

The number of positive patients has also increased to 1717 after the state reported 67 new Covid-19 cases since Monday. Of the total 67 new cases, Kurnool district reported 25 while Guntur district reported 13, and Krishna district reported 8 cases. Anantapur, Visakhapatnam, and Kadapa districts reported 2 cases each, while Nellore reported 1 case. Fourteen persons who arrived in Andhra Pradesh from Gujarat were tested Covid-19 positive.

Kurnool has the highest number of Covid-19 patients at 516 followed by Guntur and Krishna districts with 351 and 286 cases respectively.

Krishna district reported one more Covid-19 death on Monday and the death toll has increased to 9. So far Guntur reported 10 Covid-19 deaths followed by Krishna with 9 deaths, Guntur with 8 deaths, Anantapur with 4 deaths and Nellore with 3 deaths.

The officials of the Medical and Family Welfare Department said that 8,263 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of these, 67 have been tested positive, while 65 patients were discharged.

So far, 589 patients have been cured and discharged from the hospitals in the State. Around 34 patients succumbed to the pandemic and 1,094 are still being treated.
