Man gets 3-year jail for harassing minor girl in Nacharam

Hyderabad: A 39-year-old man was sentenced to three years in prison by a local court here on 13 October for sexually harassing a seven-year-old girl in March 2015.

According to the girl's father, his family, including his wife, daughter, and in-laws, lived in Nacharam. In a complaint filed at the Nacharam police station, he said that his family knew the accused, Syed Rahman, who ran a small shop beside the company where his father-in-law worked as a watchman.

One day, Rahman came to their house and took the girl, a Class II student, outside and misbehaved with her. The neighbours heard the girl's cried and rushed to the spot but Rahman managed to escape.

The police arrested the accused and sent him to judicial custody. During the trial on Tuesday, the court at LB Nagar convicted Syed Rahman and sentenced him to three years rigorous imprisonment and imposed fine of Rs. 1,000.
