Man gets life sentence for killing mother

Hyderabad: The court at LB Nagar, on Wednesday, sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his mother.

In July 2016, Yadamma, 80, who was a resident of Gurramguda, Saroornagar mandal in Rangareddy district was found dead with an injury to the head and nail marks on the throat. Her daughter Kunchala Kondamma lodged a complaint with the Meerpet Police Station. Soon, B. Kondaiah, 45, Yadamma’s son was arrested.

The investigation revealed that the accused is native of Prakasam district. He migrated to the city along with his mother, a sister and two brothers. The accused was an alcoholic who was jobless and was facing financial problems. The accused demanded that his mother give him money, especially after she had received some money selling ancestral property. But she refused knowing about his vices. According to the police, he then hatched a plan to kill her.

Police said that on July 12, 2016, at 4 am, while his wife and son were in deep sleep, Kondaiah woke up and went to his mother’s room. When she opened the door he forcibly pushed her into the room and she fell and hit her head on the floor. He stuffed her mouth with a cloth and strangled her to death.

“Having confirmed her death, he removed her blood-stained clothes and burnt them. He also cleaned the bloodstains at the scene of offense with the intent to screen the evidence. He then tried to show that she fell down and died from a head injury,” the police added.
