Man suspected of practicing witchcraft killed in Vizianagaram

Vizianagaram: Villagers beat a man to death suspecting him of practicing witchcraft in Vizianagaram on 27 February. The victim has been identified as 45-year-old K. Singanna, an Adivasi.

The police said Singanna, a resident of Kondakoneru village under Komarada mandal, was attacked by a mob from the neighbouring village of Ramabhadrapuram. The villagers alleged that Singanna had been practicing witchcraft and had cast his evil spell on people and livestock. A few families who had lost their children and cattle gathered on Thursday and attacked Singanna while he was at his home. They beat him up with sticks and iron rods causing severe injuries.

Singanna was taken to the Parvathipuram area hospital but he died on the way. Meanwhile, his attackers have fled the village. The police have registered a case and started a search for the attackers.
