Man tries to enter Parliament with knife; arrested

Delhi : In a major development, Parliament security officials have arrested a man with a knife who tried to enter the Parliament.


The incident took place on Monday when the assailant, identified as Sagar, parked his bike at the Gate No.1 of the Parliament and started to proceed towards the building by flashing his knife and raising pro-Ram Rahim slogans.


As soon as the security officials noticed the ruckus outside the gate, the accused was apprehended.


Parliament security officials have now handed over the accused to the Delhi Police of Sansad Marg where further questioning is underway.


According to police sources, "the accused Sagar lives in Laxmi Nagar (Delhi) and is a follower of self-styled godman Ram Rahim."
