Manikonda Lanco Hills Towers management in trouble after resident, son stuck in elevator

Hyderabad: The management of Lanco Hills Towers in Manikonda has come under fire after a resident and his son were struck in an elevator for more than 50 minutes. The Raidurgam police of Cyberabad commissionerate in the city registered a case against the management and the security staff on charges of negligence and have started an investigation.

CCTV footage of the incident that occurred on Thursday has gone viral. The video shows the father struggling to alert the emergency staff but in vain. The man, after a struggle, forcefully opens the elevator door and manages to get out.

According to the Raidurgam police, Srinivasa Reddy, a resident of Lanco Hills, at about 12:10 p.m on Thursday got into the elevator at P4 along with his two-and-a-half-year-old son. The elevator, however, suddenly stopped and they were stuck inside. He pressed all the emergency buttons and tried to contact the department concerned but there was no response from anyone. After struggling for 50 minutes, he managed to let himself and his son out. Nobody came to his rescue.

He approached the management and security of the Lanco Hills and informed them of the incident. The management and security persons were, however, irresponsible and negligent in their behavior. Upset with their attitude, he lodged a complaint at the Raidurgam police station and a case has been registered against the management and security of the Lanco Hills apartments under section 336 of the IPC. “We are looking into the incident. We will proceed further based on the evidence,” investigation officer Anjaiah said.
